Silver Stick Game #2
The Peninsula Predators Novice 'C' Girls continued to grow as a team experiencing their first ever International Silver Stick Tournament action and also retrieving their first ever point at the event when they took a 1 to 1 tie to the end of regulation with the South Huron Sabres of Exeter, Ontario.

The game started out a little sloppy for the Lady Preds who gave up a goal early on the second shift of the game.
This you could imagine gave the parents in the stands an uneasy feeling of nervousness right away.

But the girls bared down and played a pretty good game of hockey the rest of the way and both teams managed to kill a couple of crucial penalties at the end of the first period.

This seemed to spark the Preds who jumped out early in the second period and finally scored at the end of a power play and gave the girls the confidence to continue to work hard in the game.  The goal was scored by Madeline Linklater with assists going to Captain, Maizy Hutchinson and Sydney McArthur.

Shots were far and few between in this tight checking affair as the Sabres held a slight lead on the board out shooting the Predators 8 to 6.

Laura Naves played well when needed as she was called upon late in the third period to make a very nice right pad save and helped bail out a defensive error on the play.

Top digger & Hardest worker awards went to Maizy Hutchinson and Morgan Daries for their hard working efforts and hustle throughout the whole game and a special mention of Sydney McArthur and Gillian Warren for their hard skating and fore checking.

The Predators will now advance to the Semi Finals tomorrow morning, Sunday, February 10th for a very early game at 8a.m. in Port Elgin at the Plex.

The matchup will see the Predators take on the South Huron Sabres once again after the Saugeen Shores Storm advanced to the Championship Final at 11:30a.m. with a 6 to 3 win over the Sabres late this afternoon.

Saugeen held a 6 to 1 lead until the Sabres scored 2 late goals with under 2 minutes left in the game.
Congrats to coach Chris, and our friends on the Storm team on your present accomplishments.
We hope to see ya all in the final tomorrow vs the Peninsula Predators!
