International Silver Stick Semi Finals
The Peninsula Predators finished in 2nd place in round robin play and entered the semi final match as the home team in a rematch between the South Huron Sabres of Exeter.

The game was another close checking affair with the Sabres out shooting the Predators 10 to 9.

The score was tied at 0 to 0 until 41 seconds into the 3rd period when team captain, Maizy Hutchinson scored to take the lead.
The goal was a beauty, Chesney Miller knocked it off the side boards into the nuetral zone, and then Sydney McArthur picked it up with a head of steam in which saw her take it the all the way entirely to the corner, stopping suddenly, she then made a fake, before finally making a beautiful pass out front to Maizy, and as she was left all alone with the goalie, and she wasted no time and stuffed it in the low blocker corner.

South Huron tied things up with 6 minutes to go to make the game even more exciting and setting everything up for a thrilling finish.
Then the Sabres scored with 2 minutes to go to take the lead.  The puck bounced around like a pinball to the left of Goaltender Laura Naves, before it finally was knocked out front to a wide open shooter who had a easy tap in on the far side of the net.

South Huron kept it coming and scored again with 59 seconds left with their team captain, #8 coming in on a breakaway, she was denied on the first shot but as she was falling, knocked in the puck in mid air into our net.

But our girls poured it on and managed to score again to make it 3 to 2.
Morgan Daries stoned thier offensive attack and sent the puck up the boards where Madeline Linklater was a force to be wreckoned with, pushing the puck all the way up the boards the rest of the way into their defensive zone.
After a couple of whacks at it, she managed to get the puck out front to a wide open Gillian Warren.
Gillian then made a move and flicked the puck up and over the goaltender to close out the scoring for the game.

The girls learned a lot in this game in throughout the tournament, they showed a lot of character in not quitting and trying right until the final buzzer went off!
Awesome job girls were all so proud of you all, right from the coaches to the parents, we thought you were great.

Hardest Worker and Top Digger awards went to Sydney McArthur and Marissa Rouse in the game and Maizy Hutchinson, Madeline Linklater and Laura Naves were all selected as Game MVP's this weekend by the tournament organizers.

Congrats girls!  See you all on Friday in Lions Head at 6p.m. for our next team practice and again Saturday night at 6p.m. for our game in Southhampton vs the Storm .
