Jr Tykes Win Close matchup...
The Bruce Peninsula Tim Horton Jr Tyke Predators were back in Tara once again recently, but this time it was against the AEMHA Mite White Ice Dogs team.

The opponent this time was much bigger in size and older in experience than the last time they traveled to Tara, giving up the first goal of the game early on, but the kids played well enough to stay with them and managed to over come the obstacles of playing the tougher team.

The match up was a perfect way for David Rouse to test his defensive skills against some kids in his height and weight class as the 5 year old continually shows signs of being a steady defencemen in the future.

We were also missing 2 players due to icy road conditions up north meaning the kids would have to play a little extra ice time throughout the game unexpectedly to fill in the holes in the lineup!

It was a great game for both teams, very close for a long time, the Ice Dogs would score, than we would score, back and forth for some time.

Wyatt Thomas tied it at 1 a peice with 36 minutes & 30 seconds left, then David Rouse scored to go up 2 to 1 a minute later.
The Ice Dogs tied it at 2 each 3 minutes later and went up 3 to 2 with 28:44 left on the clock and then took a 2 goal lead 4 to 2 just another minute later.

Michael Rouse would score with 20 minutes to go, but the goal was called off by the ref as the puck did not cross the red line before the buzzer.
But the team responded well and Michael Rouse would make good on another attempt just a minute later to push the score to 4 to 3.

Wyatt Thomas made it 4 to 4 with 14 minutes and 17 seconds left in the game and he too would also have a goal called back due to the buzzer beating his shot at the 12:15 mark?

But before long the Ice Dogs would break the tie and regain the 2 goal lead with goals at 10:58 and 8:55 mark.

With AEMHA leading 6 to 4 with just under 9 minutes left in the game, the Predators made their push as Wyatt Thomas would score at 7:08 remaining to push the score to 6 to 5.

The Ice Dogs would then have a goal called back due to the buzzer going off in time for our team to catch a big break!

David Rouse scored to tie the game on a big back handed shot from the blue line with 2:41 remaining.

Wyatt Thomas put the Predators ahead with 20 seconds left and scored once more with just 2 seconds left in the game for insurance as the Tim Hortons Jr tykes pulled out an amazing effort to win 8 to 6.

The Ice Dogs were very strong and played a great game.
The night had a little of everything with the training of some new time keepers who were having a lot of trouble early on with keeping up with the proper time changes and goals on the clock, causing confusion in the stands and apparently on the ice and bench at times, but it still was a fun night for both teams and a great game for all parents and coaches from both associations to enjoy.

Special thanks to AEMHA coach, Scott Greenaway for being a gracious host and to AEMHA teams for inviting us down to play in Tara.

Also wanted to mention that Gregory Nadjiwon and Colton Hepburn were outstanding in net, almost comical at times while Nathan Miller and Mason Bell were terrific in stopping the Ice Dogs attack on the blue line as well as David Rouse with his speedy back checking efforts!

Game details are as follows:
Wyatt Thomas scores 5 goals(also scored 1 unofficially)
David Rouse gets 2 goals and has 4 assists
Michael Rouse scores once and has 1 assist(also scored 1 unofficially)
Nathan Miller had 2 assists
Shailan Miller, Broguen McManus, Gregory Nadjiwon, and Colton Hepburn each had 1 assist.

Great job kids!  It was so fun to watch and you all played so well!
