Pee Wee Reps Moving On to WOAA Finals
The Pee Wee Predator Rep Team has completed their WOAA Playdowns with an impressive 5-1-0 record.

The Playdowns consisted of a home and home series with Lucknow, Minto AE and Blyth-Brussels AE.

Bruce Peninsula vs. Minto AE

On Saturday, February 1 the Predator's travelled to Harriston to play the Minto AE team. Nic gave the Predator's an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 8:50 in the First Period. Minto tied things up a few minutes later to end the first ten minutes of play with a 1-1 tie. In the Second Period the Peninsula Reps were able to score four unanswered goals to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Goals were scored by Trenton, Parker, Jon P (2), and Nic. Assisting were Sam M., Jon P, Jake (2), Nic, Hayden, Daniel, and Trenton. Period Three saw the Minto AE team start to come back as they were able to score twice making it a 5-3 game. With 1:38 left on the clock Nic assisted by Jake scored to secure the Predator's win. The final score was 6-3.
Game Two in this match up took place in Wiarton on Sunday, March 2. The Predators came out strong scoring four goals in the first two periods of play. Goals were scored by Trenton, Hayden, Jon P., and Clayton. Assisting were Hayden, Trenton, Graham and Jon P. Jon C. made some great saves in the first twenty-five minutes of play. The Peninsula Reps had a 4-0 lead at the intermission. In Period Three Jon P. scored to give the Predator's a 5-0 lead. It seemed like this game was pretty much over but the Minto Mad Dogs came back strong and fighting. They took control of the game as they scored four goals in less than five minutes to cut the Predator's lead to one goal. The last three minutes of play were intense as both teams had opportunities to score but were denied by both goalies. The final buzzer went and the Pee Wee Reps were victorious with a final score of 5-4.

Bruce Peninsula vs. Lucknow

On Tuesday, February 4 the Lucknow Sepoy's arrived in Lion's Head for their first game with the Predators. The game was close and those watching were on the edge of their seats for the entire game. Lucknow pulled out a 5-4 win and handed the Predator's their only loss in this round of play. (Unfortunately, I cannot find that timesheet).
Game Two in this home and home series was in Lucknow on Wednesday, February 19. This game was a totally different one as the Predator's dominated the play and Jon C. got his first shut-out win of the season. The final score was 4-0. Period One goals were scored by Jake assisted by Daniel and Nic, and Jon P., unassisted. Parker assisted by Nic scored the lone goal of the Second Period. Finally, in the Third Period Nic scored the Predator's fouth goal of the game unassisted.

Bruce Peninsula vs. Blyth-Brussels AE

The final home and home series provided some of the most intense hockey playing of the season. On February 25 the Crusaders arrived in Lion's Head amidst a snow squall to play the Predator's. Blyth-Brussels scored the lone goal of the opening period to take a 1-0 lead. Jake assisted by Daniel evened things up at 7:40 of the Second Period. The Crusader's responded with their second goal of the game thirty six seconds later. The Pee Wee Reps knew that their opponents were not about to back down so they kept the pressure on and scored twice to take a 3-2 lead. Clayton and Nic were credited with the goals. Both goals were unassisted. Once again in the Third Period two unassisted goals were scored by the Predator's this time by Jake and Jon P. The Peninsula team seemed to have the game won as they were leading 5-2 with a little over seven minutes left in regulation time. Things took a turn for the worse as penalty calls were missed and arguments with the referees resulted in some of the Crusader's bench leaving the game. The game was called and further arguments ensued. Several minutes later it was decided to play out the last few minutes of the game. The Predator's came back out from the dressing room and totally lost their momentum. Blyth-Brussels scored three times to even the game up and send it into Over Time!
OT ended at 7:14 with the game winner scored by the Predator team. Nic with help from Jake and Hayden allowed the Predator fans to exhale and celebrate a hard fought win.
The second game in this match-up took place on Friday, March 7 in Brussels. The first ten minutes of play saw plenty of opportunities for both teams to score. Both goalies made remarkable saves as Period One ended in a 0-0 score. The Predators fought hard and were able to get on the scoreboard twice in the Second with goals by Jon P. and Daniel. Parker, Jake and Jon P. were the helpers on those goals. Bruce Peninsula led the game 2-0 at the Intermission. Players and fans knew from the last time they played this team that they could not count the Crusaders out and that they would have to play even harder in the Third Period to pull off the win. Blyth-Brussels came out hard in the last fifteen minutes of play. They scored two goals (13:36 and 11:39) to even the score at 2-2. For the remainder of the Third Period, Jon C. held the Crusader's off as he did not allow any more goals to be scored. It was up to the rest of the team to work hard and get the puck in the Crusader's net. The opposing goalie made several great saves to keep the score tied. Both teams kept the pressure on and with One minute left on the clock it looked like we would be once again heading into OT. An unassisted goal by Jon P. with 6.9 seconds left in the Third gave the Predator's the win! They had won the game, they had won the Playdown Round and were now moving on to the Finals!

The Pee Wee Reps have finally found their groove and are gaining momentum. The next round should be every bit as intense as the last one. The Predator's will be playing a best of three series with Elma-Logan. Games will be scheduled shortly and updated on the website. A big round of applause goes out to the entire team-Jon C., Jon P., Sam M., Hayden, Clayton, Nic, Parker, Graham, Jake, Trenton, Caleb, and AP's Sam B., and Daniel. As well, the Coaching staff should be commended - Shane, Steve, Gord, Elliot and Matt. The Pee Wee team will be taking part in a tournament next Sunday in Erin-Hillsburgh.
