BP#1 2nd Best in Game, Lucky to Get Victory
The battle of Novice Local League hockey continued on Friday. Jan 22nd in Lions Head between Bruce Peninsula #1 and Bruce Peninsula #2.

Right from the first puck drop it was clear that BP#2 was the better team as they were prepared to play the right way!
They won nearly all the races to loose pucks and won most of the battles along the boards too!
The defence of James Wheeler, MJ Klunder, and Kenneth Lee were just amazing as they controlled the game with speed, great puck rushes and putting pucks into safe spots in the neutral zone.

The forwards were fantastic too, as the new players like Blake Davis, Brianna Klerks, and Alex Morton were contributing getting the puck deep into our zone and helping to keep it out of their end.
Vetern players Cole Shindler, Jacob Haw and Luke Keeshig were exceptional in leading the attack in the offensive zone keeping our defence very busy while trying to help goaltender Michael Rouse who played very solid and saved our bacon on several occasions with timely saves.
BP#2 was so good that we barely had any scoring chances let alone shots the whole first half of the game.

After 2 complete periods, we found ourselves down 1 to 0.  After a good talk, we slowly started to play more aggressive and started to get more scoring chances.
But as we did, Goaltender Noah Bell was there to stand on his head making a lot of great saves in this game.

Finnally, Dalton Fries was able to get one through the crowd and across the goal line as he worked tirelessly to tie things uo at 1 apiece.
Mason Fortin would put us up 2 to 1 with 4 minutes and 54 seconds left.

This would set things up to be an exciting finish to the game as the teams traded some great scoring chances in the last few moments, and then with just over a minute left, BP#2 would pull their goalie for the 6th attacker applying a lot of pressure on our defence.
The crowd was exciting, loud, and encouraging by both sides as they fought tooth and nail right to the wire.
Finally the buzzer would go as Asher was about to finally get the puck out of our end!

Congrats to BP#2 on your play, you were the better team tonight, the score may not prove it, but you were, and we were so proud of you all and how well you did out there!  Keep up the great effort and good things will come your way for sure!
As for BP#1, kids we are proud of you too for not giving up, sometimes in hockey or other sports, it doesn't always go your way, but even though we know as a group we could be better next time, you were very sportsmanlike and we know you had fun out there playing your friends.

Next game will be a challenge for sure, Owen Sound Attack MD team in OS at 2:15pm on Sunday, Jan 24th, please be rested and ready to play hard as this will be a great way to gauge how good we've gotten to this point as well!
