OMHA Preliminary Round Ends on a High Note
The Pee Wee Rep Predator's finished their regular season games (with the exception of a home game against Wingham that has to be rescheduled), and have already completed the Preliminary Round of OMHA Playoffs.

End of Regular Season

Lion's Head was the venue for two games in December.  The Reps lost on December 14th to West Grey.  The final score was 7-1.  Clayton assisted by Jonathan P. and Trenton scored the lone goal for the Predator's.  The score on December 23rd against Shallow Lake was a closer one.  The Laker's scored early in the first to take the lead.  With a little more than one minute left in the opening period Clayton scored unassisted to even things up.  Shallow Lake scored mid-way through the second period to retake the lead.  Jonathan P. assisted by Trenton scored at 1:48 to tie it up again!  The third period saw both teams fighting hard and end to end action.  Shallow Lake scored their third goal of the game which proved to be the game winner as the Predator's were unable to score again.
December 29th the boys travelled to Belmore to play the Wingham Ironmen.  It was not one of our better games.  Numerous penalties were called and the Predator's lost their momentum early in the game.  The final score was 7-1 for the Ironmen.  Sam B. assisted by Nic scored the only goal of the game for the Reps.

OMHA Preliminary Round

The Preliminary Round of OMHA playoffs  was a best of five series with TCDMHA.  On January 9th parents in the Wiarton arena were treated to a well played high scoring game.  With a combined total of six minutes in penalties  the game was a delight to watch as both teams were there to play full strength.  The Rebels were on the board first late in the opening period.  Both teams scored three times in the Second. (Predator goals were scored by Nic, Jonanthan P., and Trenton.  Assists were given to Clayton, Trenton and Jake).  TCDMHA ended the Second Period with a 4-3 lead.  The Predator's came out in the Third hungry for a win.  Daniel scored on a pass from Jake to tie up the game.  Jonathan P. assisted by Jake and Trenton assisted by Nic put the Reps ahead by two goals. The Rebels fought back hard and scored to drop the Predator's lead to one goal.  Trenton assisted by Graham and Hayden scored with 5:22 left in the Third Period.  The Rebels were not about to give up as they put the puck in our net with 4:14 left in the game.  The last four minutes of play were perhaps the most intense of the entire game.  Both teams had several opportunities to score.  Jonanthon C. in net did an outstanding job as he was able to stop TCDMHA from scoring.  The Predator's won the game 7-6.  It was their first win of the year!

The Predator's travelled to Keady on January 11th for the second game in the Series. The Predator's despite having a one game lead in the series did not have a good showing.  Jonathan P. scored the Rep's only goal of the game (unassisted). The Rebels easily won the game 6-1. The Series was tied at one game apiece.

Sunday, January 12th saw TCDMHA arrive in Wiarton eager to take the lead in the Series. In the First Period of play both teams played well and the goalies stopped all shots.  It was scoreless after the first ten minutes of play.  The Rebels scored twice in the Second while the Predator's were only able to score once on a goal by Hayden assisted by Nic and Daniel. The Pee Wee Reps spent a good part of the second short handed as they served six minutes in penalties. The Rebels scored early in the Third Period and their goalie kept the Predator's from bringing the score closer.  TCDMHA won the game 3-1 and took a 2-1 game lead.  They could win the Series in the next match-up.

On Wednesday, January 15th the Predator's were in Keady ready to redeem themselves.  It was a nail biter of a game. The parents and spectators were treated to end to end action, tense moments, goal post misses and a fabulously played game by both teams.  The Predator's were on the board first with a slapshot goal by Graham (assisted by Nic) early in the First Period.  Jonanthon C. stopped every shot from the Rebels to allow the Reps a    1-0 lead after the opening ten minutes of play.  The Rebels came out hard in the Second Period and scored their first goal of the game to even things at 1-1. At 9:39 of the Second Period Trenton assisted by Jonathan P. scored for the Predator's. Bruce Peninsula was ahead 2-1.  The rest of the Second and the entire Third Period was intense as both teams put pressure on the goalies.  Both goal tenders were phenomenal as no more goals were scored.  As the final buzzer went the Predator fans finally took a breath. The series was once again tied.

The final game of the Preliminary Round was played in Wiarton on Thursday, January 16th.  The Rebels were on the board first at 6:16 in the opening period.  Period Two saw TCDMHA score twice to take a commanding 3-0 lead.  It looked like this game was not going to end well for the Predator's.  With 5:28 left in the Second Period Jonathan P. assisted by his brother Daniel scored to bring the Predator's closer.  After twenty-five minutes of play the Rebels were leading 3-1.  The Third Period saw the Bruce Peninsula team play their best hockey of the Series.  At 10:52 Jonathan P scored unassisted to bring the Predator's closer.  The Rebels appeared to be losing their momentum as Trenton assisted by Caleb and Hayden scored with 8:48 remaining on the clock to even things up. Jonathan P. once again assisted by Daniel scored at 7:37 of the Third Period as the Predator's took a one goal lead.  Jonathon C. stopped the Rebels in their tracks as they were unable to score another goal in the game.  Once again like the previous game as the buzzer went the Bruce Peninsula fans exhaled and cheered as the boys won the game 4-3 and the Series three games to two.

The TCDMHA Rebels are a spectacular team to watch and play against.  They work hard and play such a clean game of hockey.  They are good models as they challenged our team to play differently and focus on the fundamentals of the game.....scoring goals and winning games and staying out of the penalty box.  It was a pleasure to have the Rebel players, coaches, parents and fans in our arena and we felt welcome in theirs.

The Pee Wee Reps now advance to a best of five game series with the Shallow Lake Lakers.  Game One is on Sunday, January 19th at 3 PM in Wiarton.  Game Two is on Monday, January 20th at 7 PM in Shallow Lake.
