Predators Play Stiff Competition in Paisley Tournament
The Bruce Peninsula Predators Novice #1 team was in Paisley this past weekend for the AEMHA Ice Dogs/Elroy Cummings memorial tournament where they faced some very stiff competition.
The first game saw us play against the Ayr Flames in the morning in which we finished with a 5 to 3 victory.
Skyler Campigotto had a pair of goals to lead the charge offensively. Shailan Miller had a goal and 2 assists and both Dalton Fries and Gabriel McNair each had 1 goal.
Ryan Hickey, Shiloh McNair, & Nathan Miller each had 2 assists while Asher Simpson and Lillie Dowd had 1 assist each to round out the scoring.
Michael Rouse was solid in net for the Predators including a great glove hand save late in the game when Ayr was making a late push to try and tie things up!
So after 4 hours of running around, the kids suited up against the Walkerton Capitals #1 team who had only given up 10 goals the entire season heading into this game.
Walkerton would score first, but Dalton Fries would tie it up not long after.
We would give up another goal, but we climbed back into the game on a goal from the point from Skyler Campigotto.
We would go up 3 to 2 on another goal by Dalton Fries and had several chances for a 4th & 5th goal, but couldn't find a way to beat the goaltender from Walkerton.
Walkerton scored a short handed goal and then went up 4 to 3 late in the game.
Things were getting exciting as we pulled our goalie with 1 minute to go, we were able to get the puck in deep in Walkerton's end and finally with 20 seconds left, Skyler would tie it up to force a shoot out.
Dalton scored on a nice wrist shot, while Skyler, Asher & Gabriel would miss their chances as Walkerton went on further in the tournament.
Scoring summary saw Dalton Fries with 3 goals, Skyler campigotto with 2 goals, Mason Fortin & Ashton Boyle with 2 assists a piece, While Asher Simpson, Shailan Miller, Nathan Miller, Michael Rouse, Lillie Dowd, & Shiloh McNair all had 1 assist each.
Congrats kids on a great weekend, nice to see some new teams and experience some different challenges!
Were so proud of you, especially from all the amazing comments we received from the Walkerton parental group and coaches about you kids!
