Regular Season Ends
Submitted By lholley on Monday, February 10, 2014
The Bruce Peninsula Novice Local #2 team played their final five games of the season in January and February.

January 6th saw all games on the Peninsula and surrounding areas cancelled due to the blizzard conditions that stayed with us for several days.  The Predator's game in Shallow Lake (#1) was rescheduled and played on January 20th.  Despite their best efforts the Local #2 team lost 11-2.  Hockey Day in Lion's Head featured an early morning meeting of the two Bruce Peninsula Local League teams.  Once again, the team played hard but came up short.  They lost the game 7-1. (Timesheets for both of these games were not received by the coaching staff at the end of the games. I am sorry that I cannot credit the goals and assists to those who scored/helped to score).

On Saturday, January 18 the Predators travelled to Desboro and treated the parents and spectators to an amazing game.  Forty-five seconds into the first period the Bruce Peninsula team was on the scoreboard with a goal from Luc assisted by AP Sean.  The Predators held a one goal lead until half-way through the second period when Logan with help from Jesse N. scored to give the Peninsula team a 2-0 lead.  Early in the third period the Rebels  decreased Peninsula's lead to one goal.  At 3:18 the Rebels scored again to even things up. The Predator's tried their hardest and Boston made some tremendous saves in the last few minutes of the game. The final buzzer went and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Saugeen Shores #2 team hosted the Predator's in Southampton on Saturday, February 1.  After thirty minutes of play the SS #2 team won the game 15-0.

The final game of the regular season was a home game in Wiarton on Saturday, February 8 against the AEMHA Ice Dogs. The opening period saw end to end action and several opportunities for both teams to score. With 27 seconds left in the First period, the Ice Dogs scored.  Not to be outdone, Logan assisted by Evan evened things up with 1.4 seconds left on the clock!  The Second Period was a pleasure to watch as Evan assisted by Logan and Luc assisted by Noah scored to give the Predator's a 3-1 lead. Boston once again made several huge saves to keep his team in the game.  In the final ten minutes of play Ty with help from Tristan scored to give Bruce Peninsula a 4-1 lead.  The Ice Dogs would get one more goal near the end of the Third Period.  The Predator's were victorious with a final score of 4-2.

The Local #2 Team finished in eighth place after their Regular Season.  Play-offs start this week with a home game in Wiarton at 6:30 against AEMHA.  Saturday, they travel to Desboro for a 10 AM game with TCDMHA.
