Novice #2 Ends Season
The Novice Local #2 team has ended their season with a round of play-offs against TCDMHA and AEMHA.  They finished with an impressive 3-2-1 record.

Vs. TCDMHA

The first game in a three game series with the TCDMHA Rebels took place on February 15 in Desboro.  The Rebels were on the board first with a goal early in the opening period of play.  Jesse M. (assisted by Tristan), scored thirty seconds later to even things up.  The Predator team kept the pressure on the Rebels and Boston made some huge saves in both the Second and Third Periods. Marissa scored half-way through the Second to give the Predator's a  2-1 lead.  Her goal was unassisted.  The Third Period of play saw Jesse M. score his second goal of the game (unassisted) and Ty assisted by Sahara put the final goal of the game on the board for the Predators.  The Novice Local #2's won the game 4-1.

On February 22 the Predators hosted the Rebels in Wiarton.  On this evening the Novice #2 were outplayed by the TCCMHA team.  The Rebels won the game 6-3.  Predator goals were scored by Ty, Jesse M, and Logan.  Assisting on those goals were Jesse N. and Trey.

The final game in the Predator-Rebel match up was on March 4 in Desboro.  This time the Predators were working hard and hungry for a win.  Ty scored the first goal of the game assisted by Evan at 8:27 of the First Period.  Two minutes later Evan scored for the Predators assisted by Ty.  Bruce Peninsula had an early 2-0 lead.  The Rebels scored with only seconds left in the opening period of play to take the Predator's lead down to one goal.  TCDMHA scored twice in the Second Period and athe Predators answered with three goals of their own to end twenty minutes of play with a two goal lead. Goal scorers in the Second Period were Evan with two (one goal was unassisted)  and Tristan.  Assists were given to Tristan and Ty. The last ten minutes of play were perhaps the nicest to watch as the Predator team played with such confidence.  It was obvious in the Third Period how much they had all improved since the beginning of the season.  Boston stopped all shots on net.  Ty scored all three goals in the Period (giving him four goals in one game).  Assisting were Sean our hard working AP and Evan.  Bruce Peninsula won the game 8-3.

Vs. AEMHA

February 12 the Predators hosted the Ice Dogs in Wiarton for the first game in their three game play-off series.  Jesse M. assisted by Trey and Noah scored the only goal for either team in the first ten minutes of play.  Period Two saw the AE team score twice to take a 2-1 lead.  The Predator's had plenty of opportunities to score but the Ice Dog goalie stopped every shot on net.  The final ten minutes were intense as early in the Third Period Luc assisted by Jesse M. scored for the Predator team to tie the game 2-2.  The fans and parents were on the edge of their seats as the remaining time on the clock ticked down.  Boston played a fabulous Third Period as he did not allow any more scoring.  The Ice Dogs goalie stopped every shot as well.  When the final buzzer went the score remained tied. Both teams celebrated and the fans and parents were able to exhale!

Wiarton was once again the setting for the second game against the Ice Dogs on February 26. This game was every bit as intense as the one before.  Evan scored the only goal for either team in the opening ten minutes of play to give the Predators a one goal lead.  Both teams were evenly matched and played hard.  Jesse N. scored unassisted at 5:34 of the Second and he scored again assisted this time by Evan and Sean at 2:23 of the
Period.  The Ice Dogs also scored twice in the Second Period of play to keep the Predator's lead at one goal.  The Third Period was filled with end to end action and once again it became a goalie's game as both net minders faced numerous shots.  With 1:38 remaining in the game the Ice Dogs were able to score.  The game ended in a 3-3 tie.  The Coaches conferred and decided to play a ten minute period of overtime! The fans and parents were once again breathless and on the edge of their seats but were treated to some spectacular playing by this group of kids. At 6:37 of OT Luc scored unassisted to give the Predator team the win!

On Saturday, March 15th the Predators travelled to Tara to play the final game in this series.  Jesse N. assisted by Luc put the Predators on the board first in the opening period.  The Ice Dogs scored the only goal in the Second Period to tie things up at 1-1.  Early in the Third Period of play Jesse N. scored his second goal of the game assisted by Luc and Tristan giving the Bruce Peninsula team a one goal lead.  The Ice Dogs were not about to give up as they scored thirty seconds later to even things up at two goals apiece.  It looked like this game might once again go into overtime!  With only 23 seconds left on the clock AE scored to win the game 3-2. It was disappointing to lose but overall the last six games were by far the best hockey we have seen all season.  The players all worked hard and deserved credit for how well they played.

The Novice team has one final "fun" game tomorrow (March 23rd) in Lion's Head against the Sr. Tyke team.  Game time is 1:30.
