Novice Locals Get First Points of Season, News, Novice Local#2, 2013-2014 (Bruce Peninsula Minor Hockey)

The Novice Local # 2 team is half way through their regular season and has started to gain momentum.


On Saturday, November 23rd the Local's hosted a game in Lion's Head against the Shallow Lake Lakers #2 team. It was an edge of your seat thriller as the first period saw no scoring.  The Laker's got on the board early in the second period.  Ty, Jesse N., and Trey worked together to even things up.  Shallow Lake scored again to take the lead.  The Predator's scored another two goals to close the second period of play with a 3-2 lead.  Predator goals were scored by Luc and Jesse M. with assists from Jesse N., Marissa, and AP Sean.  With just five minutes left in the game Jesse M. scored unassisted to give Bruce Peninsula a two goal lead.  The Laker's dug deep and came back to score two quick goals to once again even things up.  The last two minutes of play were intense as both teams fought hard trying to break the tie and take the win.  The buzzer went and the Predator's were happy with a tie game and their first point of the season!

On Tuesday, November 26th Saugeen Shores Storm #4 travelled to Lion's Head for their first match up of the season against the Predator Local #2 team. The Storm scored half way through the first period to take a 1-0 lead.  With only seconds left on the clock in the opening period, Evan assisted by Tristan and Boston evened things up for the Local's.  The Peninsula team was unable to capitalize on several chances to score in both the second and third periods.  Despite some big saves by Noah, Saugeen Shores scored three times in the second period and won the game with a final score of 4-1. 

Hockey Day in Wiarton saw a match up of both Local Novice teams. The Local #2 team despite their best efforts were unable to score a single goal.  The Local #1 team scored six goals to win the game 6-0.

On Saturday, November 30 the Locals travelled to the Plex to take on the Storm #1 team.  The Predator's had lost their first match up earlier in the season and were looking to even things up.  Unfortunately, the Local's lost the game 8-1.  (Coach Steve has misplaced the game sheet so I cannot report who scored the lone goal for the Local squad!)

On Wednesday, December 4th the Local's hosted the TCDMHA Rebels. Boston played his first game in net and he was eager to show off his goal tending skills!  The Predator's were on the board first with two quick goals by Luc, (assist on the first goal was Jesse M.) Luc would go on to score once again unassisted in the second period.  The Rebels trailed the Predator's by two goals at the end of two periods of play.  Luc was on fire as he scored three more goals in the third period (assisting on those goals were Evan, Tristan, Noah, and Ty).  TCDMHA got on the board twice during the last ten minutes of play.  The Local #2 team won their first game of the season with a final score of 6-3.

The Local #2 team has a busy weekend of hockey.  On Saturday, they travel to Tara for a 10:00 game.   Sunday, December 8th they take on the Laker's #2 in Shallow Lake at 3 in the afternoon.
